Five Steps To Make You Bedroom More Romantic

After a long, hard day at work and dealing with the kids, I really want a space that I can call my own. What I really need is a place that offers peace – and even better, a little romance. Here are some steps to turn your room into a luxury boudoir:

Pick a color/any color – Don’t leave your bedroom walls a plain, vanilla white. Pick your favorite color, then look for a shade or tone of the color that is relaxing and soothing.

Outfit the room – Can’t afford to replace the furniture? A few changes to your linens can create a new look. Choose satin sheets (http://www.shopbedding.com/bed-sheets/fitted/4600-satin-fitted-sheet) and a satin bed skirt (http://www.shopbedding.com/bed-skirts-pillow-shams/bed-skirts/4800-satin-ruffled-bed-skirt) in a complimentary color to your wall scheme.

Don’t be afraid to mix things up – pick alternating colors for the sheets and bed skirts, or try a variety of satin pillow cases and shams (http://www.shopbedding.com/bed-skirts-pillow-shams/pillow-shams/4300-satin-ruffled-pillow-sham).

Add the accents – Add some decorative elements, pictures and candles. Don’t fill your bedroom with lots of family photos – make it a neutral space that is conducive to romance.

Soften the lighting – Bring in some lamps, add dimmer switches to your lights. Make the lighting work when reading, but soft and relaxing when you need to chill out.

Don’t forget the music – Add a nice quality mini-stereo to play relaxing music, or consider adding something for white noise. Make the room as free of distractions from the outer world.

Immerse yourself in a little luxury and comfort. Create your own space with our satin sheets and you just may find that you never want to leave the room. To see more of our satin sheets, click here: http://www.shopbedding.com/satin-bedding.

The Proper Usage & Effects of Aromatherapy

I had heard of aromatherapy in the past, but it was not until my best friend treated herself for depression that I realized its full potential. Aromatherapy can have quite a few positive effects on a person. If aromatherapy is used properly, it can provide relief for a multitude of physical and psychological conditions.  In addition, it’s a great romantic complement to satin bedding and the like :)

What Is Aromatherapy?

Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils and candles for psychological, physical and spiritual wellness. The system works by invoking chemical changes in the brain through the sense of smell. Each oil or candle scent has a different effect on the psyche. My friend alternated between inhaling the oils and applying some of them to her skin.

Physical Effects of Aromatherapy

One of the most beneficial effects of aromatherapy is increased energy. Peppermint is an ideal aromatherapy product for increased energy. It has properties that continuously combat fatigue. Peppermint can be a lifesaver if you suffer from depression. My friend used peppermint in the morning so that she could awaken her mind and keep her body energized for her work shift. Peppermint is also effective for muscle aches and pains. It can be used as a treatment for gym injuries and illnesses such as the flu.

The scent of roses is as pleasing as it is beneficial for sleep promotion. Its soothing qualities can help you fall asleep if you are suffering from insomnia or the effects of depression keep you up at night. Additionally, it has properties that can place you in a pleasant mood. Other scents that are notable for their uplifting properties are bergamot, cypress, lemongrass, lavender, jasmine, spruce, orange, rosemary and sage. The key to using aromatherapy properly is finding the scents that you enjoy smelling the most.

Conditions that involve overexcitement and nervousness need aromatherapy scents that can calm the nerves. Examples of such items are chamomile, sandalwood, and neroli. Geranium is also excellent for calming the nerves.

Ginger has been long known for its anti-nausea properties. It can be an amazing assistant with conditions such as the flu. Ginger is also a great element to use during the first trimester of pregnancy where nausea is prevalent.

You can use aromatherapy products as an alternative treatment for allergies and asthma. Eucalyptus is one of the most powerful ingredients for decongestion. It can be a powerful force if you use it in conjunction with other products such a humidifier.

Using Aromatherapy Effectively

As mentioned above, the most common way to use aromatherapy is by inhaling the oils. You can inhale the same scent or create a powerful blend and inhale it as needed. Inhaling the blend four times a day is great way to treat your condition. Alternatively, you can rub the oils on your skin or have someone perform a massage on you with the oils. Aromatherapy baths are great for the psyche as well. You can mix the oils with honey and add the mixture to hot bathwater for a relaxing or refreshing bath.

Satin Sheets as a Romantic Gesture on Valentine’s Day

Overcoming the Cliche

satin sheets make a great valentines day gift

Getting your loved one satin sheets for Valentine’s Day is one of the biggest clichés around.  Still, for those of you who are looking for a fun, spicy, and romantic gift that gets you both into the Valentine’s day mood, satin sheets are not to be overlooked.  Seriously – I think I wouldn’t stop smiling for days if my husband got me the sheets you see above!

Don’t get me wrong, guys – you still have to spring for at least a box of chocolates or a nice bouquet, but you’ll enjoy this addition more and more long after the chocolate is eaten and the flowers die. What’s more, it establishes the perfect setting in the one space reserved uniquely for you and your significant other only – the bedroom. Throw in some candles, a favorite movie, maybe some champagne, and voilà! A simple yet peaceful night in.  This is especially important for couples, especially for those that have been together for a long time – daily life often gets in the way.

Strengthen Your Relationship

When each of you is always on the go, it can be hard for you and your significant other to spend time together without distractions. When you’re driving the kids from activity to activity, or working a hectic full-time schedule, there often just isn’t much room for those peaceful and intimate moments that are supposed to be a given when you live with someone. Those moments, although small, are very meaningful: cuddling on the bed, holding each other’s hands while watching TV, or simply talking and joking together out of earshot of your kids. This Valentine’s Day, with the help of all the cliché trimmings, you can make that easygoing intimacy a priority.

One Final Tip

Even the best laid plans can be spoiled with interference from the kids.  Every so often, but especially on Valentine’s Day, get a babysitter and get away!  One day, your older kids may even be able to watch their siblings for a reduced rate.  In addition to enjoying your partner’s attention, you’ll also be able to get a few moments’ respite for your persistent headache :)
