Bed Bug Protection and Prevention

When you go to bed at night, you probably aren’t thinking about bed bugs – but you should be. Bed bugs are tiny parasitic insects that cannot be detected by the naked eye, but that doesn’t mean that they are not there. In fact, bed bugs can bite your flesh while you sleep, and the only thing that you’ll have to show for it in the morning is swollen and itchy red skin.

Bed bugs live strictly by feeding on the blood of animals and people. They got their name from their preferred habitat, infesting houses and especially beds or other common areas where people may sleep. Bed bugs, though not strictly nocturnal, are mainly active at night and are capable of feeding unnoticed on their hosts.

There are a number of different ways to get rid of bed bugs once they have made your bedroom a comfy home, though all of those ways require pesticides and other chemicals. Instead of waiting to find out whether or not your bedroom will suddenly become a bed bug’s favorite haven, take the necessary steps towards bed bug prevention.

How can you prevent bed bugs? When you purchase a bed bug protection set, you are effectively protecting your bed against bed bugs. These protection sets include a mattress cover, a box spring cover (incredibly important), and pillow protectors.
